Don’t get me wrong, I love Fall. Always loved it. Back-to-School (first for me, then for my son) meant buying new writing supplies. Still love buying new writing supplies. It’s also time to get out sweaters and scarves after sweating in 90-degree temperatures, and replacing the hibiscuses with pumpkins and chrysanthemums.
But it’s always sad to say goodbye to Summer on Long Island. It means closing the pool (below) putting away bathing suits and finding restaurants with roaring fires in their fireplaces rather than decks that overlook water.
Summer Lunches
This year, I set some new rules for lunching out with my husband Joe. We are usually creatures of habit, and once we find a restaurant we love, we tend to return there all the time (yes, you know who you are Stone Creek Inn and Sundays (below.))
This Summer we decided we would eat at a new (to us) restaurant every Monday, preferably one with water views which isn’t hard to find on the East End of Long Island. Here are some of the spectacular views we want to remember as we march into Fall.
From the deck of Rumba’s on Shinnecock Bay
From the deck of Cowfish (also on Shinnecock Bay) in Hampton Bays
Looking out over Shinnecock Canal towards Peconic Bay from the deck of Canal Cafe
Here we were on the North Fork on Route 48 in Greenport at The Halyard
And, in Greenport on the North Fork at Claudios
Cheers! Have a great Fall everybody!
You know how to live the good life Joanna 🙂
Sure looks like it, Eldon!
